damaged badly?...
Hi i would just like to say hi to all fellow seadoo fans and forum friends.Im new to sea doos. I got a hell of a deal with a 2001 gtx but the whole hull i had checked and its totaled no comming back now im either stuck or need a whole hull can anyone give me any ideas?
When you say damaged badly, how bad are you talking about? You'd be surprised how simple it is to lay new impregnated fiber and resin. But, what I'd do is take it to a body shop that specializes in fiberglass and see how much they'd charge you to repair it.
IF they don't have to rebuild the entire hull, then you'd get buy a lot cheaper to do a fiberglass job than to buy a old hull somewhere. Then, if it's a junker, you actually won't know what kind of condition it's in.
When I did my old Yamaha, I removed the engine, fuel tank and everything I could to expose the hull. I cleaned it out really good, did a little sanding with some coarse paper and laid some 1" fiberglass roll, then resined it in. I'm not fiberglass specialist but I have to say, it came out pretty good. It was much stronger too.
Check around, the ski with a good 951 engine, if the ski is in good cosmetic shape, should fetch about $3,000 bucks. So, look at all your options before just tossing it aside.
If it's too far gone, you should be able to part out and make about $1800 to $2000 bucks on it.
