2001 Gts Cant get to idle and in water??...help

Ok so Ive rebuilt the carb numerous times, and have had it off over a dozen times, It will run forever on the hose out front, I put it in the water and you have to give it about 1\4 throttle for it to half ass idle, but then it will kinda speed up and down as you hold it steady, it will run wide open just fine and everything in between. but if I shut it down and try and start it, its a bitch to start and wont idle. Please someone point me in the right direction....

On the hose, your back flushing (running the water backward through the motor), so that has nothing to do with the engine running. The impeller has no torque on it, so the motor needs less fuel, less effort to work. When you put it in the water, it has to work, draw a vacuum to make it take in fuel.

Sounds like you might have a few problems. Idle set screw not set properly, low speed jet not set out right. And if you've had it off numerous times, did you change the lever on the needle valve?....

I left the lever and spring alone, i just changed all the diaphrams, low speed is set at 2turns out, and the high speed is set at 0..

scrach that I just read over some things and my low speed it at 1 turn out, and it still doesnt idle. someone told me to change the voltage regulator and the coil..

did you chang the needles and seats when you did the carbs? also you could try replacing the fuel seperator oring and make sure there is no air getting into the fuel system. also if you got a rpm gauge or a tiny tach you can see if the idle is right, should be around 3000rpms out of water and 1500 in water. good luck

No I did not touch the needle and seats when I did the carb. I idles fine out of the water...the Idle is set right, I just wont idle in the water and is Hard to start, I have to drag the pump out of the water to get it to start, I was thinking maybe coil?? Under heavy load in the water it isnt putting out good spark??...Also can anyone tell me how to ohm out the stator, I know on the atv sometimes the bike wont start with using the start, but you can drag start it, which it is the stator low rpm pickup is bad...maybe samething here?.....
