2001 gsx rfi

This is a new to me ski with 125 hrs. The hull, graphics, and seat are in excellent condition. The engine runs really well and is more than fast enough for me. I have changed out a leaky oil tank and replaced all the clamps on all the oil lines. After a few hours of running it, I noticed some oil in the bilge. I checked all the clamps and grommets on the oil tank and no leaks found. Any suggestions for where to look next would be appreciated.

One other question. How long should a gallon of oil last? I have seen stats on gas consumption, but have been unable to find any information on oil consumption.

Those tanks are known unfortunately for leaking, mostly at the seams. Once in a while they leak from a crack at the bottom of the tank. Make sure your replacement is the upgraded tank.

Check the two 12mm hoses that go into the sides of the engine as they can leak at the clamps.

I’ve been reading about the rave valves, cleaning, adjusting etc. . On my new to me this year ski, I noticed that the red adjusters are screwed in quite a bit. According to the posts I read they should be flush with the top of the black cap. The shi has pleanty of immediate power but the fact that they are screwed in worries me that it may do harm to the engine. Should I back them out or leave them where they are? I have not pulled them yet to clean but will at the end of the season.

Adjusting them will not harm anything. They just change when the power hits, it's perfectly fine to play with the setting of them just make sure both are adjusted the same.

Thank you for the information. I always worry about making changes when an engine is working well. I just didn't know if having the springs compressed too much would delay the valves opening and possibly harming the engine. From what you tell me, it is more of a performance issue.
