Pulled the jet pump off last night, should that shaft turn freely now. It doesn't, now I must pull the 2" inch nut. What should I do after that?
First time jet pump puller:confused: I have to get far enough to know if its the motor or shaft that is froze up.

Sorry......

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the entire pump assembly will have to be removed to see if the cause is the pump or the engine. The really bad news is that you have to remove the engine (or at least undo and lift it) to remove the pump. The pump housing is bolted directly to the bottom of the engine.

Jet Pump

Thanks Aaron....I knew it couldn't be that easy. It seems it never is but don't have the monet to send it to a marina so figured I didn't have much to lose. This enconomy (I sell real estate) (in Michigan) (Luckly Northern, Burt and MUllett Lakes) but I haven't been with out a boat in 33 summers here, it hurts watching it sit in the garage.
After pulling the housing off last night I'm a little confused on how the jet pump works. It's different than what I thought it would be. Can you explain in laymans terms on how the pump works.

Thanks,
