2000 RX 951 carbed wont rev past 6700

As the title says it just wont rev past 6700.
Is this normal for a 951 RX or should it rev higher ?
Rave valves clean,Carbies rebuilt. New water regulator
New fuel lines, Standard impellor. Compression 125 in each pot ,25 hrs since complete rebuild
Runs like a dream and gets there Quick but peaks out at 6700 rpm.
Any information muchly appreciated

I was going to say certain aftermarket impellers will cause that but you say you have a stock impeller. Check the pump/intake grate area to make sure everything is tiptop.

6700-6900 is spec. If your running a full tank of gas, you are right on.

However, new carbs, jets, etc wouldn't hurt.

I also own a 2000 RX and I remember about 5-7 years ago it would rev all the way up to 7200. But after not using it for 4 years. The highest it will rev to is also about 6880. I'm also completely stock with 130 hours on it.
