Just purchased a 2000 GTi has about 10hrs on rebuild and a new carb

1. Anyway need a little guidance it seems to hesitate when you gun from a stop but if you just ease into its smooth and has very responsive midrange
2. At about 40 mph with the throttle wide open it cuts out similar to a rev limiter best I can describe it

From what I’ve read in the carb thread would I be wrong in saying it’s lean?
Excuse my ignorance I’ve owned boats for years but my this is my first pwc so this is new to me.
Thanks

Install some new spark plugs first as sometimes that is the main issue. There are other checks you need to do like the Rectifier. If you think you have carb issues or testing reveals you do......If this ski has the carburetor that has the accelerator pump and it is not adjustable as for as the high and low speed is concerned. Save yourself some time and buy a new carb. One for a 1997, I think, that has all the adjustments. I have not had any luck fighting this type of carburetor. When I replace them.... BAM... skis run great. Do your own due diligence.

One more question the idle speed is supposed to be 1500 rpms +/- 100 is that on the trailer or in the water or does it matter?

On the water 1500 on the trailer 3000. Make sure your accelerator pump is squirting fuel.

Just took a ride with the new plugs and the idle adjusted as close as I can get it until my TTO tach arrives and it ran great.
Thanks for all the info / help.

Ok after putting a couple hrs on the new plugs I’m stumbling when I go full throttle from a stop again if you ease into its fine.
