2000 GS runs for a minute then dies?

My GS starts and runs great for a few (2-3) minutes (warm up and maybe 3/4 throttle) ...then it bogs/dies. When it dies I can hit the start button and the starter/motor turns over (healthy) but will not start (choke, no choke, etc...). Park it on my lift for 15-20 minutes and it restarts perfectly???

It turns out that my magneto/stator has gone bad. No output (but I tried the simple inverter first). :-(
717 engine. I wonder how hard it is to do in my garage?

Not bad but you need the correct flywheel puller. Don't thread the bolts in too far or you will damage the stator even more.
Make sure you record the timing marks before removing the old one.
