Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had the down low on the rfi fuel filters.

I ordered the fuel “socks” and came with two press on type socks, one rectangular and one more square. When i pulled my pump there was the rectangular one at the bottom and i think nothing else?

Have read a lot of contradicting info around the web. Is there just one filter but maybe two different styles? Or is there actually two in tank filters?

Generic pic from the web attached. Not what i ordered but shows the two filters i received

I replaced the rectangular one at the bottom of the pump assembly but could not find where the square one goes. They send both when you order

I do not know on an RFI . But on a DI machine ( hopefully it’s a similar arrangement) the one filter is on the bottom of the fuel pump module which you apparently changed already. The other square filter is on the bottom of the fuel pump inside of the fuel pump module. So you have to disassemble the fuel pump module. on the bottom of the fuel pump module if it still factory there are two rivets you need to drill out in order to disassemble it. I’ll attach a picture- the one with the red arrow shows One of the two rivets the one with the green arrow shows the location of your square filter on the bottom of the pump. Yes agreed, awesome post. Aluminum rivets i am assuming?

My pump assembly does look the same, from a glance anyway. I think i will pull it again and find out.

Once i drill the two rivets out...does the inside just slide right out and exposes the filter or is there any other steps?

I did two of these this week. You're gonna need to tap on it with a small hammer and a punch. Be gentle. The rivet size is 1/8". I go with a larger drill bit and just drill the head of the rivet. Be careful not to go too deep with the large bit.

Bottom section is the same as the RFI... top doesn't look the same.

Caution - pay attention to the fuel pump tube and make sure it is in alignment when you get ready to reinstall the pump assembly. Good Luck !!
