Putting the 2002 GTX Pump together this afternoon & have 2 questions. First, after the bearing is pressed onto the impeller shaft, the bearing has no internal preload at all. In fact with both inner race halves pressed together tight, there is some "wiggle" in the shaft/impeller when tightened up. This is caused from play in the bearing, but I want to be sure its normal & that I don't have a new bearing that either has an issue, or mfg defect.
Second, the original shaft sealing system had two parts, the main seal the was pressed into the bottom of the housing, & the second part was more of a ribbed washer that appeared to be there to keep debris away form the seal. it was sandwiched between the impeller & the shaft spacer.
The rebuild kit, came with the same inner shaft seal, but the second seal appears to go in place much like the first & seals directly on the impeller shaft.
Was this some later revision?
Thoughts?
