2 beeps then 4 short beeps on 2005 gti

Recently picked up a nice 2005 gti with no manual or instructions. When I place the "key" on the post, I get 2 short beeps. If I don't start it immediately, I then get 4 short beeps. Can anyone tell me what this signal means...???

It is normal. It means that you have powered up the ski but you have not started the engine. It's a "don't leave the key on" reminder.
