1st post.. have Q. regarding GTX

I just bought two used 06' GTX waverunners.. One is supercharged the other is normally aspirated.. They appear to be in good shape but I did notice a missing o-ring on one of the hull drain plugs.. I called 4 dealers looking to buy the correct replacement o-ring only to find that I would have to buy the entire drain plug assmbly for 12 bucks each. No dealership was willing or able to sell me just the o-rings.. My waverunners are two hours away and I was too stupid to bring an o-ring home with me so I could match it up at a hardware store.. Does anyone know the exact size o-ring I need for the drain plugs?.. I bought an assortment of o-rings at home depot thinking I might get lucky but of course HD doesn't sell anything metric... The oil and filters have been changed in each machine, I ordered two new batteries (AGM) as the originals are still in there and only reading 12.1 volts resting. The supercharged one seems to crank slowly. I sprayed some corrosion X inside around all electrical connections and did a general inspection/clean up of both. Any maintenance "gotchas" I should be aware of with these things?.. I've never owned one before but these waverunners are so much fun to ride I can't believe it...Thanks

U could try just buying the o ring online. Numerous websites out there that will bring up diagram of your model and give you a price on just about any part, even O rings.

Thanks ThreeD; The problem is every parts diagram shows the drainplugs as complete assemblies, the o-ring is not referenced seperately. They want you to buy the entire drainplug to get the o-ring, no part # for the ring.. I did go to a seadoo dealer today and he gave me a handfull of o-rings from a bin but he couldn't guarantee they were the right size.. Same thing, he couldn't get the size from parts diagram.. I'm going to use some teflon tape and silicone grease if the ones he gave me, or the ones I bought are not the exact size.. I'm going to leave the seadoos tied up to a dock so I really need to make sure they don't take on water.. I can't afford to buy those nice floating docks yet.. I hope the covers are good enough to not have them sink when I'm away. Is it cool to just leave them tied up w/ the covers on? or am I taking too big of a chance..

I gotcha, that's a bummer they only sell it as a complete assembly. IMO, I wouldn't leave my ski in the water when not in use. Too many bad things can happen to it...especially if your away on vacation or business. Water vs Rubber/Metal/plastic....water always wins. If you can pull it out of the water when not in use, I would recommend it, but if not, MAKE SURE everything is all sealed up, even if that means buying the complete assembly for the drainplug I don't know much about your specific model, so I have no idea what size ring you would need. Sorry

I wouldn't be overly worried about leaving them in the water we have a 05 GTX SC and it stays in the water all summer and we have a 96 GTS that also stays in the water all summer. We have cement mooring's we leave them on though to make sure that the don't get dock rash. I would not recommend leaving them tied to the dock because if a storm came through wind and waves and do damage with a mooring you don't have to worry about it they can move with the wind and waves and are not tied in one spot. If you cant get a mooring the best thing to do it tie the front end to your dock and the back to a tree so they are at an angle that way there is a lesser chance of them getting all scratched up. If you don't have any trees around a 4' piece of rebar can do the same thing just make sure it us secure.
