Hey guys, is there a common problem or reason why the fuel gauge doesn't work? The oil light works but since I've had it, the fuel gauge hasn't worked. Thought maybe it could be a quick fix.

Yes, very common. Either the float came out of the baffle, float is water logged or there is an F1 fuse inside the fuel baffle that blows. For any of these issues youll need to pull the baffle to figure out the problem. If its the fuse, you have to cut the baffle open and solder over the fuse. You can then platic weld the baffle back together or leave it as is.

There are many threads and posts all over the internet for the fuse fix, just google it.

The baffle itself rarely goes bad. You can test it by sliding the float up and down it and reading the resistance values on the connector. Usually it's the float going bad. It likes to absorb the ethanol in the fuel becomes denser than gasoline. Cheap fix, just buy a blow molded plastic one.

The quick test is to unplug the baffle, hook up an ohm meter to check continuity. If nothing happens at all, it's the F1 fuse. If there is some action, then it's the float.
