hello i have a 99 xp limited and it ran great out of the water, it started up every time first time every morning. i took it out on the lake and it ended up getting water locked in about 10 minutes. it turned out that i forgot to plug in my Bilge pump so it ended up getting water in my motor.
I pulled the plugs and turned it over until no water came out. i got it running again out of the water and it seemed to run great like before, i tested the compresion and the compresion test was perfect. i plugged the hose in and ran it for 10 minutes with NO problems. i turned it off and didnt turn off the water to the hose and after a few minutes of the water hose being on it was water locked again.

Do you think i have a bad head gasket? because how could water get into the cylinder head if it has good compression?????
any ideas???

Thats why everyone says turn off the hose then turn off the ski. Or hook up ball valve that controls the water flow on the hose next to your ski. Sometimes its a long walk to the hose bib and thats all the time it takes to flood your motor. Water is a skis best friend but it can also be an enemy.

when you have water going into your motor with out it running it, it will force its way from the cooling jackets into the jugs. when the motor is running the pressure expells the water in the jackets, not letting them fill and fill the jugs with water. you need to get that thing turning again, and get the water out of the jugs. 951's dont handle water well at all so the fact you you got it going again once is a suprising, if you get it unlocked a second time, God has blest you lol.

okay i didnt know that, this is the first ski iv owned. so is this a common thing? it runs as of right now, like it never happened. thanks for the replys.

Id probably pop off the exhaust manifold and check them gaskets there. That doesnt sound right to me. Be careful running the ski that long out of water, the bearings in the pump dont have any cooling when out of water.

5 minutes tops when running on trailer...any more than that and your risking big$$$$ on a new jetpump rebuild....
