Hey guys I just picked up a 1999 seadoo limited. I just have a few questions I would like to ask:
1) the guy said the machine is 1130cc, what kit would he have used to do this?
2) The machine was painted gloss black, how would I go about touching the scratches up and what should I use?
3) The guy tried to put a dual exhaust but due to lack of back pressure, he closed the original exhaust hole up. Due to the new home I lost my water connection out the back, would there be any way to hook water back up to the ski?

Thanks
Alex

Well, that is a can of worms.......

Really no way to tell what size the engine is without taking it apart. I would be surprised it is that big especially with a stock head.
951's are stressed stock so with that Commfan's pipe don't expect it to last hundreds of hours.

With the small pod air filters low in the hull you are going to have a challenge keeping it from sucking water into the engine when you fall or are messing around which will kill a 951.

No good way to touch up gloss black so just ride it.

No clue how dual exhaust would cause loss of backpressure, really not a thing.

What do you mean he closed up the stock exhaust hole?

What do you mean hook water back up to the ski?

It looks like he welded the stock exhaust location shut and plumbed it through to this new location. With that it he closed the water hook up for the ski68140118-626E-4C9E-AB07-BA6CFB845795.jpeg0DA98CC9-A64C-4D28-99BF-A6EDF85F0A23.jpegFBA847B8-6321-4646-AC44-D75A1C4520C2.jpeg2B9F128B-298D-4849-8258-474D1B183263.jpeg9BFB410F-0B3C-4755-93C3-95E5840A7A02.jpeg

Wow, yes what a mess.

They have also blocked off the bilge siphons so the only thing keeping you from sinking is an electric bilge pump so you better make sure it works and all the time.

What you have is basically a hacked up former race ski so it's going to be a learning experience for you to put it mildly. Mismatched hardware, not all stainless and all.

Would I be better off putting the exhaust and all the other things back to the original way they came from the factory?

There is really no easy answer for that.
You don't know what has been done internally to the engine or anything else. So it might not be as easy as putting it back to stock and you could spend more than it's worth just trying to get it back to stock.

It's a previous race ski so there is no getting around it being temperamental, requiring a lot of maintenance and possible never ending tuning if they didn't have it dialed in already. If you don't have a background in this kind of thing you could jest be chasing it to no end. I would say run it and see what happens at this point.

What is the compression? Hopefully it doesn't require race gas.
