1999 Sea Doo GTX Ltd MPEM issue...

I am doing some research because I need to purchase a new MPEM for my 1999 GTX Ltd. I have noticed that now not only does the 1999 GTX Ltd use part # 278001525, but also the 2000-2001 LRV and 2000-2002 GTX models also use that part. Would I be able to purchase a used MPEM of one of these models to put into my 1999 GTX Ltd eventhough my old part number is 278001398 and their part numbers are different?

You say that the other models also used that part, but then you go on to say that they have a different part number. That sounds a little confusing. I would think that they would work in yours and perhaps the different part number is a replacement for all of the units.

Let me try to clarify. The models other than mine have old part numbers different than my old part number, but the replacement part for mine and all the rest is the same. I am able to find older/used parts from the other models, and not mine. Since the new part is the same number/same part, am I ok to assume the old parts from these other models would work in my ski eventhough the part numbers differ?

Sounds like the newest and correct part numbers have superceded the prior numbers but would fit all.
