1999 gtx rfi performance question

Good morning to you all. I have a wear ring question, I may need to change it, should I attempt to take on the job? I do have automotive skills but not so much marine skills.

O one more question how do i check to make shure if the wear ring is no good..

If its shot, you should be able to tell just by the fact that it revs up and doesnt go anywhere. Or you can measure it. I think the tolerance is .040 between the ring and impeller.
