Ok. I am a noob to the Sea-Doo world. I have a pair that I am working on and want to understand. As a veteran mechanic (10 years auto) I can certainly fix most things. I have questions now. Is there an alternative to the jet pump oil from the dealer? Is there a carbon cleaner method(maybe similar to a car) that I can use to clean mine? Also, just replaced a wear ring. Is there anything I should do when reassembling the housing and how much oil does it hold in the pump?

Any 75w90 full synthetic gear oil will work. I use mobil 1 from auto zone for like 10 bucks a quart. Fill the cone and let it sit a while for the air to bubble out. Do that several times and when it quits going down, its full. When you replace the pump onto the hull make sure to use a neoprene seal or you will get air through.

When you say carbon cleaner, are you referring to a fuel system cleaner? only way to degunk these is to clean the carbs the right way.

Auto correct on my phone sucks. I meant carb cleaner.

I thought the pump sleeve had the seal on it. Is there another?

Also, should I put grease or something on the o-ring when putting the cone back on?

For the o ring, it calls for loctite 518. I just put a thin layer on the o ring. You should also replace the o ring. They are like 6 bucks. I'm not sure about the seal on yours. It might not have the neoprene seal. Sometimes they just use sealant to seal the pump to the hull. Looking at the parts link it actually looks like it also just uses the loctite 518.

I do have a new o-ring for when I change the oil in the other one. Im curious though, the bottle is six ounces and claims three oil changes. So only two ounces per pump? Sounds kinda funny to me.
