last fall when winterizing the boat i noticed on the left engine around the rave valve it looked like oil had sprayed out of it? is this something i should be concerned about, the boat had been running great all summer.

sorry it is not a reed valve, i meant to say rave valve .

I would pull it apart and examine it. Might as well clean the raves while your at it.
