1999 Challenger 1800 fuel pump

Can someone tell me if these are re-buildable, or should they just be replaced. Just cracked both of mine open are they are full of scum. Should I find a rebuild kit, or just replace them with a new fuel pump? Looks like they are made by Mikuni also.

Any one done this or can give me a clue?

I couldn't find a rebuild kit for them, mine looks simular to this one:

I gave up and just bought 2 new replacements, these have 2 outlets so either you'll need to plug one, or re-plumb the supply lines to accommodate..

Did you replumb or block your extra line?

I am guessing with a 2 outlet pump, I could have a line to each carb?

I haven't installed them yet, I'm just going to plumb the second outlet to the other carb..

For laughs I just went through both of the fuel pumps on my '98 challenger 1800 while I had the carbs out for my annual rebuild/go thru. My pumps were also full of crud. These are after the main filter so just the internal carb filters keep this crud out. Plus some internal parts of one pump definitely seemed busted even though it still "worked". I could not find a rebuild kit and the pump isn't shown on Mikuni's site. I ended up buying two new pumps from seadoo, just arrived 3 days ago. About $150 for both.

Pulse lines also had green crud in 'em. They were the only hoses on the boat still the original grey pieces, I never changed them figuring fuel shouldn't be in there. I guess just crankcase fumes were enough to slowly gunk them up.

Fyi,

I looked at replacing the stock pump with a square pump, the stock pump has larger diameter inlet and outlet, and you can't mount it the new pump in the stock location, the outlets are either pointing the wrong way or are in the way of something. So it looks like I'm going back to the stock pumps just to make life easier...Sucks as they're 88$ a piece...

$71 each from shorts marine in delaware, my 'local' parts place. I got them for just about $150 shipped to my home in NJ.
