1998 GTX RFI stalling at idle when cold, runs perfect when warm

Like the title says my 1998 RFI will not idle when it is cold. RPMs slowly drop until it stalls. I have to hold throttle up over 2000 for a few minutes until it is warm and then it idles fine. I cleaned the RAVE valves and put in new plugs and I thought it idled a bit better but it still seems to do the same thing. I tested the temperature sensor and it is within spec. Yesterday I was only docked for 1/2 hour and it was still stalling for first couple of minutes after restart. I was perplexed as the engine would still have been warm. Any ideas would be welcome. I can live with it but who would want to. I am sure there is something I am missing here. Thx. Mark

We need a little history. When is the last time the carbs have been gone though? Has the fuel delivery system been changed from the original(fuel lines, filter, selector)? Etc. Give us any other history you know.

The RFI's are fuel injected! I had the engine out over the winter and did everything. New filters, fuel lines, oil lines, cooling lines, plugs, battery, cleaned rave valves. I did not pull the fuel injectors and have them cleaned and flow tested.

Sorry I missed that. I'm going to have leave this to others familiar with the injection models.

I found an interesting statement from Seadood in another thread on the cold idle of the RFI. He says,

"Sorry to correct you, but all the RFI's run on one cylinder at idle once they warm up. (they run on two when cold) This was done for emissions reasons. The 98-03 models ran only on the front cylinder at idle, whereas the 04-05 models alternate which cylinder it runs on during idle."

I checked the ski at cold idle and sure enough it was running on 2. So I am still out of ideas. Any other thoughts?

SOLVED. Just an update for those with this same problem. I pulled the injectors and did a little DIY cleaning. Used carb cleaner and a C cell battery to open the injector. I also changed the 2 fuel filters on the fuel pump. Big surprise - it idled like a dream.
