1998 GSX Limited beeper issue

I have the oddest issue with my '98 GSX Limited, it's very minor but still bothers me. After some intensive motor and electrical work I was testing with the ski hooked up to my truck for power, and the beeper was working perfectly, 2 beeps for key, beep for low oil, beep for low fuel, etc. Yet when the ski is on its own battery power (which is a brand new battery for the season) the beeper will not function at all. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

First, never hook them to any running vehicle or jump pack as you can fry the MPEM.
The beepers go out all the time.
The MPEM sends a very small power pulse to them so when they are going out you can hook them directly to a 12V battery and they will beep but the small MPEM pulse isn't enough.

Okay good to know about the MPEM, so it sounds like the beeper just needs to be replaced. Thanks for your input!
