1998 gsx 800 ran over by house this weekend.

So we ran my seadoo over with the house boat last weekend, pulled the plugs drained the water out of the carb almost is running again but just doesn't seem to want to fire. Also wondering if there is crank case oil that i would need to change? Any thoughts? Besides don't run it over, we had a new boater driving the house boat and he back over well it was being towed.

Pull the plugs and squirt some WD40 into the carb while your cranking. After that check that your getting spark, If not check you eletrcal box for water intrusion and check all your fuses.

There is no crankcase oil, however I would put about 1oz. of marvel mystery oil down each cylinder, just in case water got into the engine.

There is no crankcase oil

There is oil in the counterbalance chamber of the crankcase. It is SAE 30 oil, and in a '98 787/800 motor, there should be a fill plug to access the chamber. If your engine was filled with water, most likely the oil in your crankcase is water fouled.

See here for the procedure. This is for the 947/951 engine, but the procedure is almost the same. The 787/800 engine uses less oil, but I think I made a note of that in the article or a follow up post in the thread.

EDIT: I should mention that there is also a drain plug on the counterbalance area of the '98 787/800

So will a 2 stroke start up after it turns over? I read somewhere a 2 stroke will a 4 stroke will need some work...I've also seen some people flip 2 strokes and turn them right side up and keep riding....sorry to throw the thread off

Usually you just roll it back over and start it up and ride off. If this happens be sure to roll it back over the direction the hull sticker shows. This happens to be an extreme case. My 96XP has flipped several times never has been a problem.
