Ok so I got a new intake grate for my 1997 seadoo XP the problem is whatever happend too the one that was on there apperently ripped out the threads on the bottom so what you have is.....3 holes to attach the intake grate only one you can bolt on the other 2 have no threads just a hole. Now what should I do about attaching the grate my friend said just to put liquid nails in there and call it a day. The main bolt attaches fine which is the closest one to the front. Let me know my options thanks!

Me myself I would epoxy a nut into the hull to thread the bolt into, yes this requires alot of work but you want it right, liquid nails is junk for that dont use it, you need to use epoxy, as well dont just go and put stuff in the hole and then shove the bolt in or you will never get the bolt out again, heck if thats what you want to do then pick up a tube of 5200 fast/slow cure and thats gonna hold forever, you will snap the bolt before it pulls out of that stuff once dry.

ok so I should put epoxy in the hole first than the screw?? Or let it dry then thread the screw in there

No, I actually cannot remember but I think there is a treaded rod in the hull or the glass is threaded, if you put the epoxy in the then stick the bolt in you will never get that bolt back out unless you cut and drill it, you need to have something threaded so you can remove the bolt again if ever needed, then use thread locaker blue 243 on the bolt threads. I would get some threaded rod (inside threaded like threaded tube its like a nut but its a tube and epoxy it into the hull, you will need to drill out the hull and then epoxy it in, this is something you need to take your time with because if not you will impregnate the fiberglass with water and will cause major damage, so it needs to be water proof once done.

Something else that you can do is buy threaded rod (the same size as the factory bolts, and then put epoxy into each hole and insert the threaded rod and let the epoxy fully set up, then grind down smooth around each rod and then put the intake grate on then attach using locking nuts then cut off the excess rod so that it is just over the head of the nut, one should note that you only want to use stainless hardware in this application also you should only use underwater/under water line epoxy.

yeah I think Iam gona just throw epoxy in it and call it a day I cant see myself ever wanting to take the grate off Iam never gonw put a after market one on there. Thanks
