I have a rebuilt 97' XP with the R&D flame arrestor kit, R&D head, R&D ride plate/grate, and the Group-K exit nozzle mod. After looking through my parts bins there was a nice 140mm pump that I found with a Solas 16/24 Concord. Does anyone who knows these ski's good recommend it, or should I go with either a Solas 16/23 or Skat? Do I need more mods to push the 16/24?

Well... they don't have a 16/25 on their charts, but on a 800 it would be OK with a few mods.

With that said... what EXACTLY is the R&D head doing for you? They made a few styles, so what is that one?

Also... what is the Group-K mod on the pump? They do all kinds of work... so we need to know what they did.

sorry the 25 was a typo, it is a 16/24 Solas Concord.

The R&D recreational head got my compression up to about 170PSI and I do a mix of 92/110. I set the squish at .050" which is in the middle so I am not to advanced on the port timing since I like to hold the throttle. She woke up a lot so that's why I am aiming towards getting a concord impeller but I am just not to sure if my ski would be considered modified enough according to Solas chart to handle the 16/24 pitch.

Group-K exit nozzle mod info:

The 97 XP is the only Sea Doo 785 model for which we bore the stock exit nozzle to a larger diameter. The large wetted surface of this machine (during takeoff and heavy turning) make for much slower acceleration. After much testing, we found that a combination straight/taper boring modification to the stock exit nozzle was the most effective fix for this problem. As a result, this nozzle boring mod is a mandatory part of the 97 XP Sleeper kits

Or I could of just got the R&D 88mm steering nozzle, but for the $50.00 Group-K charges I went with the modified stock unit. Although it is said that the R&D unit helps with steering so I have been looking for one.

I did not add a grate yet to the ski. Not going to crazy but a lot of people claim these are slow ski's and I am just looking to remove the complaint of a slow plane.

OK....

R&D Head: Good squash, but smaller combustion chamber = Higher compression. (good mod)

Group-K: Opened the nozzle. (good) Some guys neck it down for more velocity, and pure speed. (but your out of the hole suffers) I personally open the nozzles on most of my toys, and go up one degree on the impeller.

Then yes. Without a doubt... the 16/24 would be fine.

Just an FYI... The aftermarket filters aren't really a HP boost, and the grate is a handling mod.
