I have the same issue with a jetboat i just purchased. I have a 1996 dual rotax engine speedster and only the right engine fails at 4k RPM after less than an hour of running fine in the water.

Well, mine is the left engine... Together, we can have one good boat?

What have you done so far?

At this point, the original seller is trying to fix it.. her mechanic seems to think fuel lines,or sand getting in from dirty lake. I'll know more this weekend.

::UPDATE::
1. Rebuilt the carb. No fix.
2. Replaced Spark Plugs again, No fix.

It is getting good fuel. I'm leaning towards electrical because it has fuel, it has compression... only thing left is spark/air. Troubleshooting guide says it could be the Rev Limiter, Neutral Switch, or Voltage Regulator.

Bump...

Anyone know a good place to find a spark plug coil/wire for the 1997 Speedsters? I can't find anything that matches the part number, etc. A replacement doesn't seem to exist.

Check with Nick and Jess at Westside Powersports Seadoo. They are really good at used parts and know the electrical systems on these.

Thanks for the info. I hit them up. Looks like they have half the part I need ... they have the coil but the wires they said I need to use from my old one...which is what I think the actual problem may be from. The one in the boat is one piece.

Hey guys. A little update on my 96 speedster that right engine goes on limp mode after 30 min of use.

First I did a full synthetic oil change. Didnt do much. Ensure to loosen the fuel breather on the right side of the boat so air can flow through engine fuel system.

I decided to take the bilge cover off and drop it in the water. I noticed a leak coming in from the area where my plug is. So I sealed that. When I accelerated, there was water squirting into the bilge from the left engine hose. (I replaced the hose)

Took it back to the lake and sure enough it worked. No more water coming into the bilge and the boat ran as it should. Hours of enjoyment. Just wanted to share my success story.

Nice! Just so you know your boat doesn’t have a limp mode. If it’s running like a limp mode you have something wrong.
