Hi. I recently got 1997 SeaDoo Bombardier GTI from my step dad and it haven't been used in 2.5 years. It has been maintenanced before it was stored. The battery was not in seadoo and been charged at least once a month. When I put the key in I hear the beep and when I try to start it I hear another loud beep but nothing happens. The tank is full of gasoline and i think its 2.5 years old. Could it be the reason its not starting? Any other suggestions or things I should do or check before starting? I have never fixed seadoo before so I am new to this. Any help or advise would be great. Thanks.

When you put the lanyard on... do you get 1 beep, or 2 beeps? Two beeps is "Ready to start". One beep is "No communications with the lanyard."

Hmmmm. Havent paid attention to it. I think it made one, so how would i fix the communication with the lanyard? Get new one?

Like Dr said. You need 2 beeps first, old gas is not going to stop motor from turning. You will need to make side your battery is full and you are have the right key for that machine. If you do get it to turnover I would not start it till u checked all fuel and oil lines and took old gas out and put fresh. But that's just ne.

Oh I see. Yeah one of my plans were to empty out the tank and put new gas, but its going to be hard since my tank is full and I have never siphoned. Oh and also I found another key that was strapped to the life jacket I am going to try it. Thx for reply's I am going to do this later on and post on what happens.

Oh by the way I noticed when I press start button I get the beep but dont hear any clicking from the motor or anywhere else and when i saw some seadoo's being started some motors made noise on the start. Does some seadoo's dont make that noise?(and what I mean by noise like motor starting) or communication with lanyard could be at fault or spark plugs went bad from not being used for 2.5 years?

It's not supposed to happen... BUT, there have been reports that the MPEM (computer in the ski) will loose it's memory for the keys, if it's been disconnected from power for a long time. BUT... before driving to the dealer to have it re-programmed, try cleaning the post, and inside the lanyard with a light abrasive. (Baking soda works well) If the contacts are dirty, they may not be making contact.

If that still doesn't work... then you will have to go to a dealer to have your keys re-programmed. Most dealers will charge $15 to $30 each.

before you spend any money or assume your lanyard don't work - sometimes I put mine on get one beep, have to pull it off and keep trying sometimes like 6 times before getting 2 beeps. If you look inside the rubber cup that you are putting on the post, i recently discovered that if I slighty squeeze the 2 sides of the cup together that have the tabs that make contact with the side of the post it works better.
