Hi all, would like to tow a donut tube, but can this seadoo handle this? Would it be enough to tow a two person tube or one person? Also where can I attach the rope to the seadoo to? Thanks a bunch

I pull the Big Bertha giant donut tube all the time with my 99 GSX LTD. I hook a carabiner to the jetski and another one thru the strap in the tube. No worries hook it up and have fun! Look for fordarmyof1 on youtube and i have video of both tubes!

Sort of.

The XP is more than capable of pulling a tube... but it's not legal for anything smaller than a 3 person ski to tow with. The USCG regulations say the towing vehicle must have room for the driver, a spotter, and the "Skier." This is for safety. There are a few states that allow the driver to tow without a spotter if they have 160 degree mirror. (that's not a possibility on a ski without a big wacky mount)

Dr Honda nail this one, I called the lake and the sheriff confirmed what Dr Honda wrote, must be a three seater for emergency situations.

I contacted NCWRC in North Carolina to ask about that situation. I was told the spotter could be replaced by mirrors so a two person ski with mirrors could legally tow a single tuber. They mentioned a life jacket but that is a given!

I am sure the coast gaurd would out rank the state level but that is what I have confirmed in North Carolina. If anyone has more detailed info I would be interested.

Here is portion of the email reply I recieved.

".... with motorboats (a pwc is a motorboat). A boat pulling a skier or similar towed device must have one of three things, Mirrors, a spotter or the person being towed must be wearing a life jacket. So to answer your question. If your PWC has mirrors, and the capacity plate allows it, you may tow a person.... "
