I have a new to me 1997 Sea-Doo Challenger 1800 (twin 787s).

Batteries are fresh and fully charged.

Gas is good and full and oil is filled up.

I get the two beeps when connecting the DESS key.

Both engines fire up and run.

However, I got the boat in the water and the engines turn off about 1-2 minutes later. Waited, fired them up again, and again, they turned off after about 1-2 minutes.

Is this an MPEM issue? Or something else?

I have no history on this boat.

Thanks.

Checked the fuel strainer(s) for gel/junk build-up?

No gray Tempo fuel hose?
Fuel strainer is clear.

Previous owner appears to have replaced the fuel lines with black fuel line.

The engines cut at the very same time, which leads me to believe it’s something else.

So I went into advanced diagnostic mode, got 2 short beeps. It turns out the DESS key is bad. Going to replace.

Will let you know the outcome.
