Hi everyone. I have a very aggravating and expensive problem. My 1997 GTX leaks the entire oil tank empty. I had a shop supposedly change hoses and had a new oil tank installed. It actually seems to leak after I turn the ski off. I knew I had an oil leak problem so after having the tank replaced I checked the hull periodically while while riding it and it didn't seem to be leaking. About an hour after parking the ski the hull was full of oil and the tank was completely empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So, id bet that theres a few oil lines. One going to the rotary valve gear, and the one to the pump and then the intake.

You cant find where its leaking from? If your losing a tank it should be easy to find. Clean it all up, fill the tank and watch it patiently. Youll see it.

seadoo oil leak ??? 97 GTX

Did you find it? I have the exact problem and it's getting to be a messy and expensive one. I have put paper towels under the tank and the oil pump - nothing, dry? only place i can figure so far is the connection that you can't see under the exhaust.

Oil Leak solved

Rotary valve gear hose or threaded connection with the engine is the problem. I don't yet know why, hose to be clamped on very tight and is new but i dumped a bit of blue 2 stroke oil in and ... there she went. (i know - only use seadoo synthetic) but the blue will leak out soon enough. motor was a rebuilt so it is possible the fitting was not screwed in properly.

Where is the rotary valve gear hose and threaded connection located?

I'm obviously a novice but can you tell me where the rotary valve gear hose and threaded connection are located? My engine had been rebuilt also so I am hoping your solution will work for me also. Thanks

seadoo oil leak

follow the hose that runs from the bottom of the oil tank and goes under the carbs. That is connected to the bottom of the engine and has a hose bib screwed into it. Clean everything dry and throw a few sheets of paper towels under, put a little oil in the tank and you will find your problem.it is down there so you really have to get down and feel around.
