ISO any helpful info on my 1997 GTX, I've got a no start issue.. the bottom end of the engine was seized last year I got the entire engine resealed, timed, new piston, rings crank, rods, etc.. (everything done professionally) also has a brand new starter and battery.. tried to start after installation , NO such luck the engine was locking up after about 10-12 rotations, I called the guy that built the motor he said the only possible thing it could be is its loading up with to much fuel (I've also switched over to pre mix).
so I remove the carbs and inspect them and they are filthy so I cleaned and resealed both of them completely! and the fuel pump.. reinstalled and it is doing the same thing.. I'm not smelling any fuel in the chambers but they are wet with what I believe is oil. if I drop and pre mix down the cylinders it will almost lock up right away.. I have tons of spark and compression due to the fresh rebuild.. also I do have the grey lines on it and I hear nothing but bad things about, but I see no leaking fuel from them or deficiencies. I don't know where to go from here I have spent way way more money and time than what I will ever get out of the thing I just want it to run I only bought it last year and put a couple hours on it before it seized and its half way through this summer and hasn't ran for well over a year now

You need to go through and change out the grey tempo lines, they gum up from today's fuel (ethanol) and it makes its way to the carbs, otherwise you may be spending more money doing another rebuild. I'm not sure if you cleaning the carbs did much, did you pressure test? pop off? diaphragm? old seats/needles are probably leaking fuel. You should probably take your time and rebuild the carbs with genuine OEM kits...

The big question you need to ask is "why did it seize last Summer after a couple hours" Fuel and oil system is a big deal on these, replace all the old lines and rebuild the carbs. Double check everything, what's bad replace, and lines are a given, cheapest and easiest thing to do.

Did your re-builder ever determine the reason for seizure?

Before you go spending money on rebuilding carbs and replacing fuel lines you should figure out what is stopping it from rotating.

Your builder is wrong about fuel being the only possible reason for this problem. His craftsmanship could have something to do with it :thumbs-down:.

So crank it until it stops on it's own, pull the spark plugs, and try cranking it again. See if any fuel or oil shoots out of the spark plug holes... and pay attention to whether it's mostly oil or fuel/oil mix. If there's nothing in the cylinder then you're looking at something mechanical which = your engine builders problem. cylinders are well sealed, if it's fuel hydro-locking the engine it will still be there when you remove the plugs.

If it's fuel then you're looking at your fuel system (carbs, lines, filter, selector, etc...).

GGuillot is right that without testing pressure and pop-off of the carbs there's no telling what may be going wrong with them.

check out mikidymacs carb rebuild thread, and replace those fuel lines... You're just going to get more chunks of shit into your carbs if you don't.

Not fun ! Listen, remove the spark plugs and crank it over. Oil will likely shootout. If so you have leaking read valve. Put a small valve on the line from on the thank when you park it shut it off, don’t forget to turn it back on when restart Ing cheaper the. New crankshaft!!
See if it works for you!

You could be looking at something as simple as a weak starter. If nothing blows out when u crank it without the plugs in then your starter could be suspect. Also if it cranks better with the plugs out. Weak starter. He doesn’t have reed valves.

Make sure you redo the fuel system or your gonna toast the topend if you get it running.

**** it seized last year from the stator seal leaking.. water got into the bottom end and caused roller bearing failure ok thanks i will order enough fuel line to do the entire machine thanks!!!
