I recently bought my first jet ski. 1997 gtx limited.
Complemly rebuilt engine. Sofar it runs ok
It seems to ideal ruff and at 2500 to 4000 rpms
It doesn't hardly move and at 5 k to runs like a raped ape
I was told to ad oil to the gas for the first two tank. So 24oz to 10 gal
Any ideas

There is no such thing as a 97' GTX Limited. IF it is green and white it is a 97' if it is red and white it is a 98'. Last 2 digits of the hull/VIN number is the year.
Did you rebuild the carbs with genuine Mikuni parts? Replace the gray fuel lines, On/Off valve and fuel strainer?

You only need to add the oil for the first tank of fuel as long as you are also running the oil injection.

Idle should be 2500-3000 out of the water and 1,400 in the water.

My mistake 98. Red and white.
No I didn't rebuild it. Someone else did everything was replaced. I'm hoping it just all that oil
He want me to bring it back to him when he has time. He works on Sea-Doo only almost all the time when he not doing his other job

You need to know if an OEM gaskets were used for the carbs. If not, that is the issue. Also, the original Pop-off spring should be used as compared the the new springs that come with the kits as long as the spring is within specs and the proper length. The replacement almost always cause issues.

It is not the oil.
You have a fuel issue and if you keep running it that way you will melt down the new engine.

I'm not running it thank. I'm hoping he will find time otherwise I will bit the bullet and take it to local dealer. I don't work motors. Electronics guy here.
