1997 GTI bogs and pops/ backfires out carb. HELP!

Just bought the ski guy lost the dess key and it had been sitting in a dry lock up for 6 years very good condition. I Got it home and drained out the old fuel, and stripped out the carb It was Furd up And very dirty, got a rebuild kit cleaned and rebuilt and put back on. Last week I got a dess key reprogrammed for it And got it running but it bogs down and backfired out the carb when I throttle it.
 
What carb kits and parts did you buy. If you didn't use Genuine Mikuni that's your issue.

On the carb rebuild, did you swap in new needle/seats? genuine oem? what was the pop off? what do you have the LS and HS needles set at? Will it crank up and hold a decent idle at about 3k?
 
You might have had a piece of junk run through it. If you still have all the old fuel lines they could pose a future problem. Breaking down internally. Food for thought I had thought I had done a good job on a Honda 50 4STK
carbs. Had to take them apart a second time. Glad to see its running Rt.
