i have a 1997 gti with 717 motor and BN 401-38-15 carb. ski runs great. idles great wide open throttle is great all day. However at about 1/4 throttle there is a bog. If i throttle up from idle slowly and steadily it want to stall in that 1/4 throttle positon (and will if i let it) However, if i feather the throttle at that point i could save it from stalling and keep going and its fine after that. Also note that if i punch the throttle from idling it has no hesitation or bog. Or if im at 1/4 throttle and it starts bogging out if i punch it wide open throttle from that point it will take off as well. I simply cant hold at quarter throttle or slowly pick up speed past quarter throttle. What could be causing this? Yes i have adjusted the low speed and idle adjusters up to 3/4 of a turn in incriments of 1/8 inch both ways with fresh plugs (properly gapped) and it did not help. I feel the adjusters are in the best position, low 1 turn out, and high 1 1/2 out. last time i checked, it popped at around 33 psi. Aside from carb adjustments what could it be? Can low speed jet partially clog?
i rebuilt carbs as well, aside from new needle and seat and new jets.
will replacing jets do anything?
Thank you
