Hey guys , i got a 1997 gsi seadoo with a 717 motor and i really don’t know what’s problem my seadoo have.

The battery is fully charge, i got the 2 beep when my key is on .

I took my multimeter to see if my solenoid was receiving the 12 volts . And yes, so i change my ground on this connector because my coil is old and have some rust on it. I plug my solenoid ground directly on the battery ground and still no crank...

I jump it with a wranch and i got the starter crank. So need a new solenoid ?

Can my coil be my problem also ? Can i put all the ground from the coil and put it on another ground ? Just to be sure or my seadoo is not gonna start?

I change the solenoid for a another used one and my seadoo did work for a day only. Now i got the same problem. No crank...

Can someone help me ?

Did you check your Start/Stop switch with a meter ?

Yes and he’s working perfectly, i just also test the yellow/black connector who goes in the solenoid , and i got 12 volts. , i change the ground place from the coil to my negative pole from my battery to be sure he is right. And still no crank.

If it cranks by jumping the solenoid the engine is not locked up.

Make sure you get an OEM solenoid as the aftermarket ones are not good.

That's good advice, but the OEM's are 'aftermarket', we just don't know who's making them for BRP. From what I can tell it comes down to U.S. made vs. a cheap china knockoff. I bought a U.S. made (seller swears) metal base one for $12 like the original OEM, So far it's working fine, but time will tell...

I do know a $50+ 12 volt solenoid is way marked up...we're getting screwed, there's an aftermarket vendor somewhere making it to meet OEM standards.

I guess I don't understand your statement? The ones from Seadoo are OEM, not aftermarket. Yes, seadoo might not make them in their factory but they are much higher spec than the ones from SBT or ebay. Do you actually think Chevrolet makes all their computers in their cars or an outside vendor, this dos not make them aftermarket.

If I have to pay $50 for solenoid direct from seadoo and it lasts another 20 years over a $15 one from china that is DOA I will always spend the $50 and enjoy my summers instead of sitting on the shore.

Aftermarket companies make OEM parts for the automotive industry all the time and usually offer the same part without going through a dealership with the higher markup. I don't see how the jet ski industry would be any different. You can buy a new vehicle and the OEM fuel pump is 'Bosch' only a Chevy dealership won't tell you who makes it (and they probably don't know) so you won't bypass them and go to a parts house distributor. But if you open the fuel tank get your hands on the OEM and take it apart and compare it to say Bosch or AC Delco you could figure it out.

Someone (aftermarket) makes these solenoids and it's widely available, BRP seadoo just doesn't want that secret out. That's my point.. Like I said, we're getting screwed, should't need to pay more than $15 for a quality U.S. made solenoid.

Let us know when you find these exact seadoo solenoids that don't crap out after a few years for $15, I 'll start buying them.

Agreed ...i purchased a china knock off from E-bay for $16.00...it lasted about a month...purchased one from a local SD dealer for $47.00 OEM...and it still be working.

I have a 1997 Sea-Doo gsi that I just bought and went to start no beeps. Found the beeper bad. Replaced the beeper and now I have two beeps and it will not crank over. Check the starter relay for power and no power from switch. I tested the start stop switch at the mpem with volt meter no volts but the switch is working by check for continuity. Check all power and grounds. Still won't crank but I can jump the relay and make it spin over but no spark but show rpm on the gauge.

Jumping the solenoid only verified that the starter is good. It won’t start that way.
