1997.5 mpem?

I have a 1998 GSX Limited that has a fried mpem and I also have a good mpem from a "grey ghost" 1997.5 GSX Limited. My question is if I put the 1997.5 mpem in the 98 is it compatible or will it just fry the computer? I also read somewhere that the ignition curve is different between the two, can anyone confirm any of this?

Yes the curve is a little more aggressive in the 97.5 and yes I think it will work. I've done it and nothing fried.
