Ok guys so here is the deal,
I have this 96 XP 787 that has been an absolute nightmare to own. I am currently dealing with a ignition system issue. About 6 weeks ago I had the ski running great on the trailer. I put it in the water, engine started right up, quickly started bogging out, stalled, and would not restart. I was about 20ft away from the dock. Pulled ski out of water to find a no spark condition.
I ordered a new Ignition coil with wires and replaced the boots. Ski came back to life and sounded healthy. Dropped it into the water again, and repeat issue. Lost spark after engine bogged. Pulled it out of the water again to find a weak connection for ignition coil (+) supply.
I fixed the connection only to have very weak spark in one cylinder, no spark in the other. Ski has a new mpem and battery if that has any relevance. Possible to have high resistance internal to the coil? stator not producing enough current? any help would be greatly appreciated. Wiring all looks good. No obvious signs of corrosion. The second ground on the battery is clean and tight.
Any suggestions on things to look for/further diag?
