1996 speedster no crank unless play with lanyard

Hi, Our 1996 speedster wont beep when the lanyard is placed onto the post, and at times it wont crank. The gauges illuminate but the engine wont crank. If I play around with the lanyard (turn it etc) it will eventually start. The only time I heard beeps was when we tried to start it in drive we got 2 beeps. Occasionally maybe a beep might occur.
I just ordered a new dess post or safety switch because someone had advised me they had the same problem.
I really would like some pros input as Im a new owner of thid boat.
Any advise or input will be appreciated! Thanks!

Dess post corrected problem! I think the horn/beeper is ng though. I only get the 2 beeps every now and then when i put the lanyard on. But it will always start. Thanks:hurray:

If you have anymore issues with it, the problem I had was not the post but the actual DESS key I guess the grounds in the key get bad after a while and are hit and miss. So I replaced my key and it is tight and works great now.
