1996 SP speedo??

First time jet ski owner and am having a blast. Bought a 95 SPX and a 96 SP for $800 and both run great. Reading weeks worth of posts have been a wealth of information, thanks to all. My question is about my 96 SP, has anyone tried to install a speedo. The front cover has a spot to put a gauge in and I thought about the speedo. Any suggestions or input??

I dont think the SP is setup internally for that.

Probably going to be alot of work.

After looking at several service manuals and looking at different wiring diagrams, I knew it wasn't set up for it. I was hoping that all it would take was adding the speedometer sensor, but again I'm new to all this. Not like working on my Harley.

speedo install

i've been looking into adding the speed sensor to my 96 gsx. the mount is there on the drive plate. i'd need to add a mid wire harness to the front plug. figured i'd make that part. missed a used speed sensor on ebay the other night for $30.
i havent figured out what displays the speed yet. wether it's the multi-function display or a seperate speedometer. i'd throw out the tach in a second to put in the speedo.
the wiring diaghram shows that the plug should be there and it appears the the guage all just daisy chain together.
anyone have any experience with this?
