last time I took it out I was doing donuts and getting the nose under water, my son was on the beach wanting his turn so I took it in and shut it off. He got on and went to start it and the hull was 1/4 way full of water. We towed it in and dried everything out and the starter wouldn't kick out. So I pulled it and got it working again. Went out last week rode for a couple hours, no problems. I left the beach and my son decided to do donuts and then brought it in for someone else to ride it. went to start it and it was half full of water. They burned the starter up trying to start it. I have a new starter on the way. Why is it taking on this water??? Or is it just from doing donuts and not going out and opening it up to let the water drain out?? Is there anything else to check. Doesn't seem to be taking water in unless doing donuts and getting the nose in abit??

Thanks

Is the water coming up and over the front hatch? If the rubber seal is bad, then doing 360's with it will definitley fill it up with water

or look under the rub rail and see if anything is starting to seperate under there.

checked seal around hatch looks good but two white vent in front seal don't have any seals around them??? should they?

Try to ride it around, slowly, with the hatch open and look in there to see where it's coming from.

ok I'll try that

if water is coming in somewhere from doing donuts, if we run it straight opened up, it will draw it out correct?

Check the tuned pipe

Check the tuned pipe for leaks.. The plugs welded in the pipe tend to corrode and get holes in them leaking water into the hull.. The one that is most often leaks is right by the ignition wires where it turn upward... I have 4 seadoos from 94-98 and everyone has had the problem.. Look to see if there is white crap all over them.. The powder coat on the pipe tends to hide the hole until it gets really bad..

Places I have found leaks in my 96 XP...

--two rusted out bungs in exhaust pipe on bottom.
--bailers actually sucked water INTO the hull when I slowed down or stopped from high speeds (found this while driving with seat off).
--water coming in from under hatch in front of steering wheel when taking water over the front.
--flinging in from carbon seal
--I think there is still one more leak which "may" be coming from where the two hulls are pancaked together on the back left side, but haven't nailed that one down yet.

I have fixed all the rest, and removed bailer tubes, and installed a button operated bilge pump that I use about every 20 minutes to empty out the hull.

water in xp

Scooper, you said the bailers are sucking water into the XP. Same thing on my 95 xp. While idling on the trailer I can grab the right side bailer, hold it out of the boat and watch it pump water. How do you fix the problem? Is this the O rings between the nozzel and pump (venturi) ?
