Hey guys, my fixer upper 96 gsx will not start. I just replaced the fuel lines and cleaned carbs. It runs when you spray oil and fuel mixture in the carbs, but obviously quickly burns off. Just for the heck of it I pulled the fuel line that splits and goes to each of the two carbs and cranked the engine to see if any fuel flowed through and none did. Hoses are completely dry. Do I have a bad fuel pump?

Splits and goes to each end? Double check how you have everything connected. The pulse line from the crankcase to the carb pulse block and the single line coming off the fuel strainer under the steering going to the front (MAG) of the carbs. Verify what you have connected at the baffle, it's labeled, the return off the back (PTO) of the carbs going to the RET on the fuel baffle.

If you replaced the lines and everything is correct you may need to prime them, blow into the vent or return line to get it to the carbs.

If the ski runs on pre-mix directly injected into the engine.....then its USUALLY a carb issue. Could be Pulse pump, etc.....BUT YOU SAID...you cleaned the carbs......DID YOU REBUILD THEM? Cleaning might not be enough for an old '96....might be time to fully rebuild them with ONLY genuine Mikuni carb parts.

"Splits and goes to each end? "...yeah you know, on top of the dual carb setup the fuel lines come OUT of the carbs and come back together as the RETURN to the tank....I think that's what he meant.
