I recently purchased a 1996 GTX put her in the water and she started fine but sputtered and wouldn't hardly idle. Pulled her out returned it the guy I bought it off of. He replaced all the fuel lines. used new stainless hose clamps on all the fittings. pulled the carbs cleaned them out and blew out the jets, also said he cleaned the small screens in the carb body? I wasn't present for the carb cleaning not sure about the screens he referred to. Put her back in the water and 3500RPM and 10 MPH is all she got. I also noticed a 12V low warning on the info center. The battery thats in this is a Harley Sportster battery. it's about an inch and a half shorter than the original one from what I could tell. Could low battery voltage cause the reduced RPM's ? I'm really stuck on this one. Any help or trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated.
