1995 xp pump seal

can anyone tell me if there is suppose to be a sealing ring between the impeller housing and the spacer on my 1995 xp. My 96 GTI has one but it doesn't have the spacer. I pulled the pump and there is only the o-rings for bailers. Couldn't it suck air between the spacer and the impeller?

A 1995 Seadoo XP came with one from the factory, yes. Part Number is 293-200-024 Neoprene Seal.
