1995 Speedster water coming in bilge

I've been fixing up a 1995 Speedster and finally got to make a few trips and continually have water in the bilge. I watched it for a while today while sitting in the water and when I turn the bilge pump on, it drains out properly but water instantly comes back in by the bilge pump when I shut it off. I took a garden hose and sprayed in the hole in the transom where the bilge shoots water out and it takes water in when I do that.

What is supposed to stop water from coming back in the bilge hose and filling up the boat? Also do the 1995 models not have an automatic bilge? I have the service manual from Sea doo and it doesn't cover anything about this. In the wiring schematic, I only see a manual switch and the boost switch to tie the batteries together. I don't see an automatic switch there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The hose is the answer.

The hose from the Bilge pump , at some point must be higher than the through
Hull fitting, Some people put a loop like a script letter e. Then cable tie or zip
tie it up near the opening of the engine compartment.

Thanks

Wow, that makes way too much sense. Thanks for answering my dumb question so fast! I was cringing at the thought of buying more parts or trying to get at the bilge pump in such tight quarters....

Thanks, Bill.

I had water coming in my 95 and fixed three things that reduced the water a lot

1. water was coming in from my tuned pipe. Broken bolt.

2. water was coming in from one of my carrier bearings.

(I did not see these problems until I ran the boat with the eng cover up and looked around.) Use hearing protection!

3. I don't know if this helped, but I replaced the thru hull rubber flapper valve, (the one on the right side of the hull) with a plastic unit with a floating ball in it.

I have the boat in the water for two weeks and ran the bilge pump about two times... Before I had to run it all the time.

Hope this helps.

Frank

I have a 95 Speedster also. Rub rail has revits under rubber that leak real bad. Had to pull off rubber, drill out rivita and reseal where hull and deck come together and revits. Also had to replace scupper on transon as wave action was puching water into cockpit drains.

I also installed a auto switch. Best thing I did.
