Hi,
I have recently found an old Speedster in a back yard that has been stood for about 10 years. It's been parked outside for around 6 years and the interior is completely shot but otherwise hull just needs a good clean.
The owner advises when it was parked up the engines were originally fine but when they next came to use it one wouldn't start but would try to start. After this it was left and has not been run since (around 8 years or so) the engine bay has been sealed and the engines look complete although the heads have been off at some point in time and put back on.
The owner will allow me access to the boat to see if I can make the engines work however I am guessing with how old they are there is no chance they will run without full carb rebuilds. Is there any way to check the engines over thoroughly without stripping them and ensuring I'm not buying complete money pit?
The boat already needs new reverse and steering cables plus an interior and a complete trailer refurb plus the owner advises the jet drives are caveating so I don't want to be rebuilding 2 full engines on top.
Any advise appreciated, also does anyone have an idea what this is worth as a good hull needing the rest doing?
Many thanks for your time
Andy
