1995 Sea-Doo SP choke issue

Hello I am new to this forum. I just purchased my first Jetski,a 1995 Sea-Doo SP. Looks and runs like new. My question is when I go to start it and pull out the choke it seems to be spring loaded and snaps back in as soon as I let go of the handle. Seem awkward to start pressing the start button, holding the throttle lever and holding the choke out. (seems like I need another hand LOL) Am I doing something wrong or should the choke knob remain out until I push it in? This Newbie would appreciate any help you could offer

Perfectly normal functioning choke assy... Go have fun

You shouldn't need to hold the throttle. Just choke and start button.
