Hey guys i know im new to the forums but i hope u can still help me out. so my uncle took a girl to the river with my seadoo who wasnt so smart and she sucked up a rock and it jammed in the impeller. she kept trying to start it over and over with the rock jammed. it kept trying to turn over but couldnt and then just stopped all together. my uncle unjammed the rock then tried charging the batter and tried to start it up. it didnt make a sound. he then took the plugs out and tried to turn it over and it kinda lightly attempted. i have no idea whats wrong or where to start looking. anyone have any idea what it could be? i appreciate any advise for help. thanks.

sounds like the starter was damaged in all the attempts to start it or perhaps the starting relay is fried. make sure the battery is fully charged and all the wire connections are good. then jump the two large posts on the starting relay (aka solenoid) and see if it will crank the engine. then you can narrow it down to either the starter, solenoid, or wireing.

I have heard horror stories about aftermarket eBay starters. OEM is the only way to go with starters, in my opinion. Add says 100% OEM replacement but that does not mean it's OEM. sort of deceptive if it's not OEM.

Starters can be rebuilt if you want to save some money but being it's 300 miles away makes it difficult to work on. And it may not even be the starter. Might be something simple and cheap like the solenoid.

There are plenty of online parts order places so shop around for the parts you need. I suggest you also get a service manual so you can do the job correctly.

there was one right above that post that was an oem starter for 10 less. but it was used. and the one i found said it was a year warranty and its like 10 minutes from my hose. and 2 week money back guarantee. im thinking about getting it and if its not it ill take it back.a bunch of my friends want to go to the river next week and thats why im kinda in a time constraint to fix this. do u know any good inline stores to buy the solenoid? or will any local boat shot have it? and i appreciate all the help man thanks a lot.

where you at..so cal. I got solenoids. Be in O.C. tomorrow and at Puddingstone Lake.

Also, i'll check w/ my buddy, see if any starters he might have?

Sux, its 300miles form you. Need to have gander at wear ring, with pulling rock thru pump along with inspect'n the impellor.

composite material, thats "around" the impellor. So if an incident like this happens, it trashes it, besides the pump..takes up the "gap" between the pump and impellor.

does it really hurt the engine if i run it with that torn up? and if it is gone how hard is it to replace? and am i just looking for transhed rubber pretty much.

if wear ring is trashed and/along with impellor, you'll hit the throttle, to get 7k rpm, but only be doing 5mph...

also ive heard there r 2 different solenoids out there. one with 2 posts and a clip on the bottom and one with 4 posts. which is the revised version and which is oem? and timmy i havent forgotten about u just trying to do some hw to please the fam.

follow the 2-red cables to a box. Open that box, and find where they connect to. Thats your solenoid (relay). Think its the 2-post, with plug at bottom, and for starter, its located under the exhaust pipe. Unbolt it, make sure your battery cables are undone.
