1994 Seadoo Sp Starter Grinding Noise

So I just bought a 94 Seadoo and hooked up a new battery. Thing turns the starter over but makes a terrible grinding noise like the starter is stripping itself out on the flywheel. Bad starter? Flywheel is in good condition and I just bought a brand new motor from SBT. Anyone?

Sounds like a bad starter. Is it aftermarket ? If it’s black it’s aftermarket. At any rate buy you a oem starter for it. A good used oem starter is better than aftermarket any day.

Als check that the starter isn’t loose.
