Hello all,

I just bought my first sea doo, first "jetski" of any sort, actually. I like to tinker with things and so I picked up a 93 xp for pretty cheap. It is for the most part a basket case. Here is what I know from the previous owner: It is a 93 hull, they supposedly put a motor from a 95 in it. Previous motor looks to have ate a set of rings (I got most of the parts from it in a box) It does roll over but it does not start. I have just now started looking into issues. But before I tear into anything I want to make sure everything is hooked up right. It could be something easy, that I will be able to see from some pics. Also I will put some up of mine here in a little while. So could someone who has a 93 please take a pic of what it is supposed to look like inside.

It looks like it is all there, just looks like it needs put in the right places.

Thanks for the help.

need to check the wiring, make sure they got things plugged to the right wires. What size motors' in there now?

Actually I think that should have the 657 motor, as I have a 93 and it has a 657 engine. Believe the yellow engine is the 587. Anyway, if they put a 717, would not be the engine that originally came in that machine, and they would have also had to change the electronics, MPEM, etc. Not able to get to mine to take a pic, will as soon as I can though.

It has all been swapped out. I have all the other parts.

I just bought a new battery today, so I will give it a good check over tomorrow.

I do know that I need to fix the trim, I located all the parts for that.

By the way anyone need any random 657 motor parts/electronics?

Its not a 717. Whats the plate on Magnito top houseing say? Looks like a 657 engine , Could be 587 if it was changed. Battery and separator filter cleaning and carb filter cleaning may do it. Cheers! Don't be surprised if it smokes at first. Replace the two small injection lines to the RV to be safe, these get brittle n break. Bills86e

Bills - you are right it is a 657. I didnt even notice the obvious tag:redface:

Update, I put a new battery on it today. Rolls over fine, I have fuel, fire and good compression. So I think it is one of two things.

Either they have the spark plug wires running to the wrong cyl. or it is not timed. I will look more into this today.

Thanks for the help!

The plug wires should not make a difference on a 2stroke, if you have 140-150 from each plug hole good, fuel is drawing to the carbs, try a coffee shop spoon of weedeater gas in each hole put the plugs back in and see what happens, burp or start? next is check the rotary valve timing - use the settings for the 650, you will have the oil pump off to do this so now is the time for the new lines and mark the alignment marks on the pump linkage with some spots of nail polish - it is so darn hard to see them on the flat top motors.

Do the cylinders fire at the same time?

I will give this a shot tomorrow afternoon, storming here now.

Thanks for the help!
