1992 587 oil bypass

I rebuilt my pump body, I reckon you will damage it from lack of lubrication (2T oil) and seize it, then destroy pump drive gear. It is a good question you have, I wonder if you can pull the intake and remove the oil pump drive gear and be done with it?
 
In a normal config the oil tank feeds both the oil injection where the fuel/oil mixing takes place and the rv gear
if you put oil/fuel mix in the oil tank you eliminate/reduce the lubrication of the rv gear
in the cases where people wish to go to premix there is still the need to lubricate the rv gear
most here prefer to stick with the stock oil injection setup
