I am new to the forum and to repairing SeaDoos but have an old 1991 SP with the yellow engine that I want to fix. I got it to turn over two years ago and rode it a lot on the bay. One day it was rough and after taking a big wave I heard an alarm and drove it back to the beach. When I looked inside I noticed that water was in the bottom of the hull. We hooked it up to a hose to examine the problem and could see that water was leaking from the bottom of the engine. My thought that it must be a seal or gasket that is broken because the water leaking is from the exhaust. The ski still runs but the gets hot because the water does not make it all the way thorough to cool it since it leaks out. Here is a (terrible) video of what is happening. Do you think it is worth making it my summer job to take apart and attempt to fix, because no mechanic will touch it, or should I part ways and sell it to someone buying broken jetskis. I have the original manual and would love to keep it in the family because of the memories and the fact that in its prime it flew. Thanks!

Unfortunately... the vid is to dark to see anything.

I would take the pipe off the engine, and check it out. Then, check the little cover that acts as the bottom engine outlet. (you will see it once the pipe is off)

Since you are in NJ... you may find a crack int he engine. If it's not properly winterized, and it sits out during winter... the ice that will form in the engine will crack it.
